9. On the innate nature of Islam

We set in the evening on the innate nature of Islam, on the Word of Sincerity, and on the deen (way of life) of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and on the deen of our forefather Ibraheem, who was a Muslim of true faith and was not an idolater.

Amṣaynā 'alā fiṭrati al-Islām, wa 'alā kalimati al-i'khlāṣi, wa 'alā dīni nabīyinā Muḥammadin ṣallā Allāhu 'alayhi wa sallam, wa 'alā millati abīnā Ibrāhīma ḥanīfan wa mā kāna mina al-mushrikīn.

Ubay Ibn Ka’b (ra) said that “the Messenger of Allah (sas) taught us to say [this dua] when we rise in morning, and to say the same when one reaches the evening.” Related by Abdullah Ibn Imam Ahmad in his Zawaid.
