10. Blessing, strength, & protection

O Allāh! I set in the evening with blessing, strength and protection, all of which You have bestowed upon me. So complete Your blessing, the strength (You have bestowed upon me) and Your protection, in this life and in the Hereafter.

Al-Lāhumma innī amsaytu minka fī niʿmatin wa ʿāfiyah wa sitrin, fa-atimma ʿalayya niʿmataka wa ʿāfiyatika wa sitraka fīd-dunyā wal-ākhirah.

Abdullah Ibn Umar (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sas) spoke to them about a servant from amongst the servants of Allah who said: [this dua], and this became problematic between two angels, for they did not know how to write (record) it. They ascended to the Heavens and said: “Oh our Lord! Your servant has said something that we do not know how to write (record)?” Allah (swt) and He is the Most Knowledgable about what His servant, has said: “What has My servant said?” They replied: “Oh Lord! He said: [this dua].” Thereupon Allah (swt) said to them “Write it down as my servant has said it so that when he meets Me, I will give the reward for it.” Related by Imam Ahmad and Ibn Majah.
